Human NAT2 is a xenobioticmetabolising enzyme that provides a major route of detoxification of drugs such as isoniazid (an antituberculotic drug), hydralazine and endralazine (antihypertensive drugs), a number of sulphonamides (antibacterial drugs) (Kawamura et al., 2005), procainamide (antiarrhythmic drug), aminoglutethimide (an inhibitor of adrenocortical steroid synthesis), nitrazepam (a benzodiazepine) and the antiinflammatory drug dapsone (Ginsberg et al., 2009, Butcher at al., 2002)
